Summer VIIIs 2015

Wednesday 27th - Saturday 30th May 2015

After an excellent week's racing the crew has been awarded discretionary blades making this the first year that the crew has won blades since 2005. The crew were unlucky to have their overbump on the first day overruled on a technicality which did not involve them. They could not have responded better. Each susequent day the crew went on to bump Green Templeton II, Wadham III (again) and St. Anne's II each within 25 strokes! Overall it was an excellent week and the crew deserve a lot of credit! Well done!!
Torpids 2015

Wednesday 4th - Saturday 7th March 2015

After an unfortunate first day in which the crew narrowly missed bumping Wolfson, who had crashed into the bank the crew regathered well. On Friday and Saturday they regained their composure and overbumped Green Templeton II and the double overbumped (in Torpids terminology) Merton II. For the first time in several years the crew has held their position.
Torpids Rowing on

Friday 27th February 2015

We rowed on in style today qualifying. We were fastest in our rowing on division and fifth faster overall with a time of 3 minutes and 14 seconds. We have been given a tough draw placing us 3rd in Division 6. In front of us are Wolfson III and John's III. Behind us are Mansfield II. It is shaping up to be an exciting day of rowing so do get down if you get a chance.
Check the OURCs website for details of the draw and starting orders for each day

Isis Winter Leagues

Hilary Term 2015

The crew have been entering Isis Winter Leagues this term, rowing a total of four races. The first was a new experience but even so we put in a good shift and overtook ChCh MB which was impressive. Since then our times have tumbled from 5.59 to 4.41. Good practice for Torpids!

Changing of the guard
Sunday 12th October 2014

The new academic year sees the old guard changing for the new. It is all change throughout the boat club, Nick Scott is the Captain, with Josh Atkinson taking up the role of President. The treasurer is Lance Bayham and the secretary Ed Sparrow. The new year has also brought us a new coach. Due to unforeseen circumstances Pete Selwood has had to take some time off coaching and his boots are filled by Max Lau, former captain of Oriel College Boat Club and coach of St. Andrew's University. It is with sadness that we part, hopefully only temporarily, from Pete who has been the longest standing contributor to the St. Benet's Hall Boat club, both as a rower and as a coach.

Christchurch Regatta 2014

Wednesday 26th - Saturday 29th November

Our first outing under our new coach, Max Lau, was a success. The crew rowed well, getting through three rounds and reaching the last sixteen! Not a bad showing for such a small college with a novice intake of 8 rowers this year. Congratulations to both the crew and the coach

Summer Eights

Wednesday 28th May - Saturday 31st

After an unlucky start to the first day when a crab and a claxon interrupted proceedings the crew pulled out the stops on Saturday to row over and hold onto a place in the division.
